Elton John is used to playing much larger venues. Still, the rock and roll hall of famer was a surprise guest of honor last weekend at the Los Angeles wedding of Laura Katzenberg and record producer Mark Sudack. Katzenberg’s father Jeffrey is a longtime friend of John’s.
John, 65, played piano during the couple’s first dance on Sunday evening, having performed at another couple’s nuptials the evening before.
That night, the British superstar performed at the wedding of Australian actress Holly Valance and British billionaire Nick Candy at the Paramount lot in Los Angeles.
One month earlier the “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” singer appeared at yet another wedding reception, this one in Canada.
John agreed to perform for the man and his new wife after the man made a substantial donation to John’s AIDS Foundation.
Meanwhile, John will replace George Michael as the official opening act at Australia’s Perth Arena after the singer cancelled his Australian tour dates to undergo treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder after his nearly fatal pneumonia last year.
John was scheduled to perform in Perth on Nov. 12, but will now play on Nov. 10, Michael’s original date, as well.
